Dated 12th September 1877 the foundation stone at the South East corner of the churhc was laid by John Nott Pyke-Nott. The Reverend Peter Leakey was Rector of Parracombe at this period and the Reverend Pike-Nott was Pastor. It would be interesting to know his relationship with a previous incumbent John Pyke. The Rev Leakey was the person responsible for raising funds for the “New Church” when St Petrocks was fell into disrepair.
